What we want...

…or, apparently, don't. The former half-term governor of Alaska says she'll run for President if the American people want her to. Guess she's not running. Via Salon...
According to a new CBS poll, America really doesn't care for Sarah Palin. She is viewed favorably by 22% of Americans, and unfavorably by 48%. Those are not great numbers for a potential 2012 candidate.
Does not great = not running? Well, yeah, unless she's lying. Of course, she's a Republican, so...

If the Republican party was run by someone other than the Tea Party coalition, they'd give up on Redneck Momma and consider Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico. He did a pretty good job as governor and has several more IQ points than Mrs. Palin.

However, his support for a common sense, honest approach to marijuana - legalize it - is probably just too much for the so-called "social conservatives" to bear.

One has to marvel at how Mrs. Palin has created her own brand. It begs questions: if she is indeed viewed by so many unfavorably, how did she get the television gigs she has, get those well paid speaking engagements and sell so many books?

Maybe H.L. Mencken was right. Nobody ever lost money underestimatng the intelligence of the American public - or at least the GOP.

Well, having a base of 22% of the American public is still having millions of fans. It's a big country. If even a fairly small percentage tune into FAUX or buy a book, its impressive given the relatively small audience for cable news or non-fiction books.
